Hey guys, welcome back. This is Brian Kurz again with Renegade Research. We’re doing an update on some things we are bringing to the table for 2019. One of the things that we have this year is our brand new research planter.

We’ve kind of partnered up with Precision Planting and a couple others to put a lot of really cool, innovative, and state-of-the-art things on this planter. So what we did was we actually took a 1972 John Deere 7000 series planter. With the mindset of make you money, save you money, save you time we started with something that didn’t cost us a lot to begin with and saved some money on the front end to be able to build something that is one of the newest and most innovative things on the market.

So what we have here is actually a variable rate section control with liquid. What we are trying to do – with Precision Plantings vApplyHD – we are able to control down to each individual row if we wanted to. On this we’re controlling each section, which is three rows each. We want to be able to adjust that across the field.

We also want to be able to run side-by-sides and three-by-three row treatments vs. untreated and different rates of products. This will give us a lot more capabilities for being able to hone in on what is going to be most profitable for each product that we are testing. We’re monitoring that – we’re monitoring everything. We also want to focus on singulation. With that we want to look at each individual whether it’s the seed and the fertilizer applied right next to it almost as an individual data point. That way, rather than just having a broadcast method we are taking the question and guess out of it and making it a precise measurement.

I’m really excited about the things we are doing with this for this spring. I know a lot of you guys have been following what we are doing on our 12-row planter. I’m really excited about that. It’s been great to get it off the ground and get going. It’s got tons of capabilities. So check back in with us to see an update on the 12-row planter for our “Big Deal” program. I can’t wait to see how this thing works in the field.
